Description

Volume IX, the last one in this set of volumes, contains a diverse set of papers dealing with various aspects of biblical faith and Christian experience.

In PART I and II, Custance describes Noah’s Flood concluding that whether it was local or global, a compilation of the flood traditions verifies that it took place.

In PART III, Custance considers how it is possible that evil (which is not the same as sin or wickedness) proceeds from God just as blessings do.

In PART IV, Custance describes the importance of a person’s name, and that to change a name is to change one’s nature, as seen in several passages in Scripture.

In PART V, Custance applies his scientific expertise in human thermoregulation and sweating to show that Genesis 3:19, (By the sweat of your brow…) if taken literally, is in keeping with modern discoveries. He discusses the theological significance of sweating.

PART VI and VII contain papers which relate much to Custance’s own Christian experience with the established Church as a place of worship, and with his answers to prayer. He stresses the importance of a personal prayer journal.

PART VIII is the last paper in The Doorway Papers, and here Custance offers some guidelines for developing an authentic Christian scholarship, guidelines that are based on his experiences as both a scientific and a theological author.
